Arrival in Antananarivo. Meet and greet at Ivato International Airport by our dedicated staff, followed by a private transfer to our hotel.
We begin our journey south along the legendary RN 7. Along the way, we’ll discover small villages typical of the Merina ethnic group, where the mud-and-straw houses exude a warm, timeless atmosphere.
The landscape presents us with a tapestry of rice paddies and varied crops, confirming this region as the true breadbasket of Madagascar.
Upon arriving in the colonial city of Antsirabe, we’ll be captivated by its colonial elegance and vibrant daily rhythm.
We continue our descent along the island’s backbone. Today’s journey takes us through the Highlands, a landscape of hills sculpted by both man and nature.
We’ll stop in Ambositra, the center of woodcraft in Madagascar, where the Zafimaniry people’s expertise is evident in intricate carvings. The day ends near Ranomafana National Park, a mist-shrouded sanctuary of biodiversity.
We’ll spend the morning exploring the trails of Ranomafana National Park, a rainforest ecosystem where biodiversity is on full display. Beneath the dense canopy, the day will focus on tracking and observing unique species in their natural habitat.
We will focus our attention on searching for the golden lemur and the bamboo lemur, iconic primates that find refuge in this sanctuary. The experience allows us to connect with the island’s wild essence, surrounded by lush vegetation and the constant sounds of the tropical wilderness.
We will visit Ambalavao, famous for its traditional architecture and the artisanal production of Antaimoro paper, a legacy of the first Arab settlers.
We continue to the Anja Reserve to enjoy a close encounter with ring-tailed lemurs (Catta). After the visit, the landscape changes dramatically: the vegetation gives way to desert plains, signaling our arrival at the majestic Isalo Massif.
A day of active exploration awaits us in one of the country’s most iconic parks, Isalo National Park. We’ll hike among sandstone formations eroded over millennia, discovering deep canyons and ancient tombs of the Bara people.
Our efforts are rewarded upon reaching natural pools of crystal-clear water, true oases that invite us to experience a sense of complete harmony with the surroundings before watching a sunset of reddish hues over the savanna.
As we approach the southwest coast, life begins to pulse to the rhythm of the Vezo people. In Zombitse-Vohibasina National Park, the Savanna of Baobabs weaves a landscape that awakens the senses, home to the sifaka and the nocturnal lemur.
After crossing the imaginary line of the Tropic of Capricorn, we’ll arrive in Tulear, a coastal town where craft stalls and the sea breeze mark the end of our overland journey.
It’s time to say goodbye to the southern regions and fly back to the capital. Antananarivo welcomes us once again with its boundless energy and historic hills.
After transferring to the hotel in the heart of the city, we’ll have the chance to do some last-minute shopping for handicrafts or enjoy an urban sunset in the “City of a Thousand,” reflecting on a journey that has transformed our view of the world.
Last moments to enjoy the Malagasy atmosphere before heading to Ivato International Airport.
With our hearts filled by the warmth of the people and the majesty of the surroundings, we’ll board our return flight, carrying with us the timeless essence of Horizonte Malgache.

Traveling in Madagascar
Madagascar boasts a surprisingly vast land area and a unique geography that invites you to travel at a leisurely pace. Due to the nature of its roads, journeys between destinations become leisurely drives, allowing you to enjoy the scenery at a more relaxed pace than what we’re used to.
The pace of life in Madagascar is dictated by daylight hours, with the day beginning between 5:00 and 6:30 a.m., when it is dawn or has already dawned, and ending at 6:30 p.m., when it is completely dark and coincides with the local dinner time.
National parks and reserves usually open their doors early, normally between 6:30 and 8:00 a.m., in order to take advantage of the most active time for daytime wildlife, which is usually in the early morning.
We will soon adapt to this Malagasy rhythm, which, although sometimes unusual for us, allows us to make the most of the daylight hours for visits and travel between destinations and to take advantage of the hours of darkness to rest, sleep, and recharge our batteries for the next day.
Passport and Visa
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from Madagascar and have at least 3 blank pages.
A visa is required in all cases and can be obtained directly at the international airport upon arrival in the country. The cost depends on the length of your stay in the country.
Currency and Exchange
The country's currency is the Ariary (MGA). In most destinations, it is necessary to pay in cash with local currency, as card payments are not common.
It is possible to exchange money at the international airport and at banks during business hours. In the country's main towns, there are ATMs where you can withdraw money with your credit card (Visa/Mastercard).
International Vaccination Center
No vaccinations are required to enter Madagascar, provided that the traveler is not coming from a country where yellow fever is endemic, in which case only the yellow fever vaccination is necessary. For more information, consult the international vaccination center in your country of origin.
Pharmacies in the country's major cities stock all types of medication, although it is advisable to bring any necessary medication with you from your country of origin.
